DURATION: 10 MONTHS CONTRACT

Our client, Education Bridge, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering young people in South Sudan, through holistic education, to end poverty and violent conflict in their communities, is seeking a Curriculum And Instructional Design Consultant to join their team. JOB PURPOSE

The Curriculum and Instructional Design consultant will lead the development of the organisation's instructional design and curriculum, which will be implemented at schools across the network. The process will take place over a 10-month period, with a possibility of extension. The consultancy is based in Kampala, Uganda, with occasional travel to South Sudan. For candidates from South Sudan, an option to be based in South Sudan is available. A strong candidate will have a wealth of experience with instructional design and curriculum development, as well as instructional leadership and teaching. He/she will have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with the leadership to develop a graduate profile for a growing network of secondary schools aligned with our mission.

  • Develop an instructional model for the schools that indicates how teaching and learning aligns with the graduate profile, and guides leadership and teaching at all schools.

  • Develop teacher training materials as aligned with the instructional model.

  • Work closely with school leadership on implementation of the instructional and teacher training model within Education Bridge schools.

  • Guide school leadership and teachers in a one year long curriculum development process. The curriculum should align to South Sudanese national curriculum, but units and lesson plans will need to integrate supplementary content from Kenya and/or Ugandan curriculum.

EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum of 5 years experience with curriculum development, instructional design, instructional leadership, teacher development

  • Experience with product or program development, at organisations working at scale

  • Experience working in African schools, ideally within the East Africa community, and ideally experience with post conflict or low resource environment

  • Able to work independently and proactively, and at a fast past 

  • Attention to details and high standards of excellence.
