Our client, a leading energy company in East Africa, is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious Depot Operations Assistant to join their team in Tanzania.
JOB PURPOSE
The Depot Operations Assistant will be responsible for supporting the efficient, safe, and compliant day-to-day operations of the fuel depot. The Depot Operations Assistant ensures smooth product receipt, storage, and dispatch processes while maintaining accurate records and upholding operational standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist in receiving, storing, and dispatching petroleum products in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements
· Maintain accurate stock records, daily reconciliations, and product movement logs.
· Coordinate with transporters, drivers, and loading staff to ensure timely and accurate loading/offloading
· Support documentation processes including delivery notes, gate passes, and stock reports.
· Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting transit sales.
· Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including customs and border protocols.
· Assist in product quality checks and sampling as per standard operating procedures.
· Report operational anomalies, safety incidents, or equipment faults to the Depot Supervisor promptly.
· Other tasks as required by the business.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
· Degree/ Diploma in Logistics, Engineering, or related technical field.
· 3–5 years of experience in depot, warehouse, or logistics operations (fuel industry preferred).
· Basic understanding of fuel handling, HSE standards, and inventory control.
· Strong understanding of Tanzania’s transport corridors and border dynamics.
· High integrity and respect for operational protocols.
· Strong attention to detail and record-keeping discipline.
· Strong communication and negotiation skills.
· Strong problem-solving skills.
· Excellent Customer Relationship Management experience.
