  • POSITION: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER.

    LOCATION: ADDIS ABABA.

    REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.

    Our client, Temer Properties, is a leading real estate development company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Temer Properties is looking to hire a strategic and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This individual will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for the Corporate Office and Group operations. The role will be responsible for end-to-end financial management including strategy, planning, reporting, treasury, governance, and digital finance transformation.

    The CFO will act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, supporting growth, capital optimization, and risk management while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with Ethiopian law and international financial standards.

    This role will be critical in enabling scalable operations, particularly within the construction and infrastructure development environment, where project finance discipline, cost control, and cash-flow optimization are essential.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategic Financial Leadership: -

    • Develop and execute the Group’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives and long-term growth plans.
    • Provide high-level financial advice to the CEO and Board on capital structure, investments, mergers & acquisitions, and expansion initiatives.
    • Drive financial sustainability through disciplined cost management and performance optimization.
    • Translate business strategy into measurable financial outcomes.

    Financial Management & Reporting: -

    • Lead preparation of accurate, timely, and IFRS-compliant consolidated financial statements.
    • Establish strong management reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs.
    • Ensure consistency across accounting policies and reporting systems.
    • Present financial results and insights to executive leadership and Board committees.

    Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management: -

    • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes.
    • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Support project costing and profitability analysis, especially for construction and development portfolios.
    • Implement financial planning models for scenario analysis and strategic decision-making.

    Treasury, Cash Flow & Capital Management: -

    • Oversee cash-flow planning, working capital optimization, and funding strategies.
    • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing arrangements.
    • Supervise foreign currency exposure and treasury operations.
    • Lead capital expenditure evaluation and investment appraisal.

    Governance, Risk & Compliance: -

    • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, regulatory frameworks, and IFRS requirements.
    • Design and maintain robust internal control systems.
    • Lead internal and external audit processes and closure of audit findings.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
    • Strengthen corporate governance and financial accountability.

    Digital Finance & Systems Leadership: -

    • Champion digital transformation across finance operations.
    • Lead ERP implementation and optimization (e.g., SAP Business One, Odoo, QuickBooks, or similar platforms).
    • Promote data-driven decision-making using financial analytics and automation tools.
    • Enhance cybersecurity awareness and financial systems integrity.

    Leadership & Team Development: -

    • Build and mentor high-performing finance teams.
    • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Strengthen financial literacy across non-finance departments.
    • Support succession planning within the finance function.

    Stakeholder Engagement: -

    • Serve as principal financial liaison with shareholders, auditors, banks, regulators, and strategic partners.
    • Support investor relations and funding negotiations.
    • Represent the organization in high-level financial engagements.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CAREER EXPERIENCE

    • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.
    • Full membership of an IFAC-recognized professional institute (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CA).
    • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive finance leadership experience.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a CFO or equivalent executive level position in a large or complex organization.
    • Strong experience preferably in the construction, real estate development, or infrastructure sectors.
    • Proven track record managing large corporate finance operations.

    Technical Competencies & Personal Attributes

    • Advanced knowledge of IFRS, Ethiopian tax regulations, and corporate governance frameworks.
    • Strong expertise in financial modeling, treasury management, and investment analysis.
    • High digital literacy with hands-on ERP experience.
