Our client in the banking sector, The East African Development Bank (EADB) is seeking a highly qualified and strategic leader to join their dynamic team as Country Manager.

The East African Development Bank (EADB) was established in 1967 under the treaty of the then East African Cooperation. Its mandate is to provide financial and related assistance to enterprises in the member States to make a positive contribution to socio-economic development in the region. EADB is today owned by the four Member States of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda as well as other development and commercial financial institutions. Being an organ of the EAC and its partnership with EAC institutions has accorded to provide it with a platform to play a catalyzing role in regional integration through provision of development finance. 

 

JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall Management of the Bank’s operations in Kenya. The role is responsible for driving business growth, overseeing operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships to advance the organization’s mandate and objectives in the country.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth


  • Develop and execute the country’s business strategy aligned with the Bank’s Strategic Plan.

Operational Management

Oversee all operational aspects including finance, administration, compliance, risk management, credit analysis and human resources within the country office in liaison with Head Office.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation


  • Represent the Director General and the Bank in Kenya, liaising with government agencies, regulators, donors, partners, and clients in building and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development


  • Lead, motivate, and develop the country team to achieve high performance and build capacity.

Risk and Compliance


  • Ensure compliance with regulations governing the Bank, and organizational standards.

Decision Making/ Job Influence


  • Holds full accountability for all country’s business decisions and operational outcomes.

Working Conditions


  • Based in the country office-Kenya with extensive stakeholder interaction.

  • May require travel within the country and occasional regional/international travel.

  • High-pressure environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field required.

  • Relevant certifications in credit management, finance, or development are an advantage.

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in business management in a financial institution, preferably in a development bank, or multinational company.

  • Proven track record in managing country operations, business development, and stakeholder engagement.
