REPORTS TO: CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER
Our client with a focus on multiple business segments is looking for a strategic, detail-oriented, and analytical Finance Controller to join their team in Nairobi.
JOB PURPOSE
The financial controller (FC) is responsible for ensuring that the accounting operations of an organization run smoothly. They will oversee the accounting function of the company, ensuring that accounting records are kept appropriately and that reported results comply with accounting standards and relevant legislation. The holder of the role will ensure that the finance team operates within a robust control environment and will also be the principle point of contact for external auditors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all accounting operations including Account Receivables, Account Payables, Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Inventory Accounting.
- Coordinating month-end and year-end closure processes.
- Preparing and publishing timely monthly (IFRS) financial statements.
- Coordinating with external financial, compliance and tax auditors.
- Co-ordinating and leading the preparation of the budgets and financial forecasts, preparing monthly financial statements and other periodic financial reports.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensuring compliance with local laws, tax provisions and relevant industry and financial regulations.
- Other tasks as shall be required by the business.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- A first degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or any relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. ACCA/CPA.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Analytical and numerical skills.
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), financial policies, procedures, and systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships.
