Our client, a leading manufacturer and supplier of wood-based panel products, serving the furniture, construction, and interior design industries, is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead and optimize end-to-end logistics, warehousing, and customer service functions.
Job Purpose
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in manufacturing distribution and a sharp focus on operational excellence, team development, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across receiving, warehouse, dispatch, and delivery functions.
- Manage daily operations to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate order fulfillment.
- Resolve service issues promptly; implement process improvements to avoid recurrence.
- Drive operational efficiency and elevate the customer experience across all touchpoints.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Lead and supervise operational staff; manage hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Analyze root causes of service failures; implement corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, and cycle counts across all sites.
- Manage inbound/outbound logistics, fleet, and third-party delivery providers.
- Ensure policy adherence, safety, and security controls, including waste management.
- Conduct regular reporting and chair tactical planning meetings.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategic changes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal, and quality standards.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on operational performance.
- Oversee budget planning and cost control within operational areas.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Admin, Operations Management, Logistics, or related field.
- 5+ years' experience in operations within manufacturing/distribution.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
- Proficient in operational software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
