JOB PURPOSE
The Finance Manager will oversee financial management and reporting. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of accounting systems and software, demonstrate strategic thinking, and work effectively with others. Although the role will be based in Kampala Uganda, the person will be expected to travel regularly to the schools in South Sudan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and manage financial tools: Designing, reviewing, and maintaining budgeting templates, asset registers, and reporting templates.
- Oversee the implementation of internal control policies: Overseeing the efficiency and implementation of internal control policies to mitigate financial risks.
- Manage accounting software: Supporting the school finance team in invoicing and allocating transactions in the school accounting software.
- Support the school leadership team in budget preparation: Assisting the school leadership team in preparing their budget every year.
- Prepare financial reports for board and external stakeholders: Ensuring the timely generation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal and external use.
- Support the CEO in grant reporting: Assisting the CEO in preparing materials for grant reports and, if needed, writing and submitting reports to certain grantors.
- Strategic planning: Working with the senior leadership team to review strategic plans and financial models.
- Oversee operations of finance team: Ensuring the school finance team understands and adheres to accounting processes, organizing necessary training on relevant topics, and setting goals to be met.
- Oversee school audit: Overseeing the school auditing process annually
EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A minimum of three years professional experience in finance and accounting related work.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Ability and willingness to regularly travel between programs sites in Bor and Juba, South Sudan.
- Can work independently, but also great in a team environment. S/he should be able to train the junior team.
