LOCATION: Tala, Machakos

Our client, Tala Hospital Limited, is looking to hire a competent Hospital Administrator.

Job Purpose

This hospital administrator has a key role in strategic policy development for the hospital and ensuring that Administrative and Finance services are provided in an effective and efficient manner to support the operational running and strategic aims of the hospital in consultation with the Board.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS


  • Internal relationships: Collaborates/networks closely with all Heads of the Departments.

  • External Relationships: Liaison officer between the hospital and the stakeholders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Administrative Services.


  • Provides leadership and set objectives for the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative services as a whole to ensure that key objectives are met.

  • Upgrade and implement appropriate systems of policies, internal controls, accountability and procedures.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continues improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.

  • Play a central role in conjunction with other senior managers in planning and strategy development for the hospital.

  • Represent the administrative services and senior management within the hospital.

  • Oversee the setting of objectives and evaluation of performance for all departments in the hospital.

  • Lead and promote integration between departments.

Hospital Property Management


  • Maintain the inventory for all the hospital assets.

  • Coordinates the Hospital transport systems.

  • Ensures the maintenance of hospital equipment and their cost-effective use.

  • Ensures economical and timely purchase for all hospital supplies in accordance with the procurement policy.

  • Overseas the entire security for the hospital and compound.

  • Oversees the maintenance and facilitate the mortuary services.

Budget Development and Management


  • Work closely with Accountant and the finance committee to ensure that the hospital budget is completed by November of each year in readiness for presentation and approval by the Hospital Board.

  • Allocate resources and approve budget for departments in collaboration with the accountant.

Special Projects Management


  • Take the lead on any construction project planning or special projects as assigned by the Board.

  • Fundraising and business planning for hospital infrastructure development.

  • Promote the financial and operational stability of the hospital, including the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.

New Business Development


  • Ensure that Tala Hospital has insurance contracts with major insurance companies.

  • Work closely with the accountant to set affordable services pricing for the hospital services.

  • Play a central role in setting up private services and express clinics to meet the needs of those patients willing to pay for the same.

  • Meet with various employers in Tala Town and its environs to have their employees seen in Tala Hospital.

Legal Liaison


  • Follow up on any lawsuits against the Hospital.

  • Ensure that hospital operates within the provisions of Kenyan Laws

Periodic Functions


  • Secretary to the Hospital Board Meetings

  • Attends the following meetings:


  • Human Resource and Administration Committee meetings.

  • Finance Committee meetings.

  • Ad Hoc Committee meetings.

  • Health Services Committee meetings.

  • Hospital Management Team meetings.


  • Chairman of the Hospital Disciplinary Committee

  • Represents the hospital externally as required and to maintain external networks.

  • Any other duties as directed by the board.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Nursing, Social Sciences or any other business or medical related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hospital administrator role or similar position.

  • Additional training in hospital management will be an added advantage.

  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills including negotiations and conflicts resolution skills.

  • Strong mentoring and coaching experience to a team within diverse levels of expertise.
