Our client, a young and ambitious agro-processing company with existing brand presence in Kenya, regional and international markets is sourcing for a Modern Trade Sales Executive.
This role is critical in managing and expanding the company's presence within modern retail outlets. The jobholder will be responsible for fostering relationships with key decision-makers, optimizing product visibility, and driving sales growth in modern trade channels.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a company with significant social impact on the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and communities often excluded from the value chain by conventional business strategies.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts in modern trade, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, and large retail chains.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and modern trade partners.
Sales Strategy Implementation:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and market share objectives in modern trade channels.
- Collaborate with the sales team and management to align strategies with overall company goals.
Product Placement and Visibility:
- Ensure optimal product placement on shelves to maximize visibility and accessibility.
- Coordinate with merchandising teams to implement attractive product displays.
Promotions and Campaigns:
- Plan and execute promotions and marketing campaigns within modern trade channels.
- Negotiate promotional agreements and secure additional shelf space for featured products.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance product performance and market competitiveness.
Forecasting and Planning:
- Work closely with demand planning and supply chain teams to ensure adequate stock levels to meet demand.
- Forecast sales and monitor inventory turnover to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
Training and Support:
- Conduct training sessions for modern trade staff on product knowledge, promotions, and selling techniques.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure retail staff is well-informed and motivated to sell the company's products.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in modern trade sales within the FMCG industry.
- Strong understanding of modern trade dynamics, including negotiation processes and promotional activities.
- Minimum of two years with the same organisation and demonstrable success in modern sales.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Results-driven with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Familiarity with trade marketing strategies and merchandising principles.
- Proficient in using CRM software and MS Office applications.
- Adaptability, agility, and a proactive approach.
