Our client, a young and ambitious agro-processing company with existing brand presence in Kenya, regional and international markets is sourcing for a General Trade Sales Executive.
The primary responsibility is to drive sales and maximize revenue for fast-moving consumer goods within the designated market. The jobholder will be tasked with building strong relationships with retailers, distributors, and other key stakeholders while ensuring the successful promotion and distribution of the company’s products.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a company with significant social impact on the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and communities often excluded from the value chain by conventional business strategies.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retailer Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and distributors in the assigned territory.
- Regularly visit retail outlets to understand their needs, provide product information, and ensure proper product placement.
Sales and Distribution:
- Implement sales strategies to achieve volume and revenue targets.
- Expand product distribution by identifying and acquiring new retail accounts.
- Negotiate and secure favorable product placement, shelf space, and promotional opportunities.
- Coordinate and execute merchandising initiatives to enhance product visibility and appeal at retail locations.
- Monitor and manage product displays to ensure optimal presentation.
Promotions and Marketing:
- Plan and execute promotional activities.
- Provide retailers with marketing materials and support to drive product awareness and sales.
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.
- Provide feedback to the marketing and product development teams based on market insights.
- Manage and process orders from retailers, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts.
Training and Education:
- Conduct training sessions for retail staff to enhance product knowledge and selling skills.
- Educate retailers on promotional programs and incentives.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in FMCG sales and distribution.
- Strong understanding of the FMCG industry, including market dynamics and consumer behavior.
- Minimum of two years with the same organisation and demonstrable success in general trade sales.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Results-driven with a track record of achieving sales targets.
- Familiarity with trade marketing and merchandising strategies.
- Ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
- Proficient in using CRM software and MS Office applications.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach.
