Location: Nairobi (temporary) and then permanently in Kilifi County.

Our client in vegetable oil extraction, is seeking to recruit a Plant Manager. Successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational readiness and set-up the operational management system before plant start-up. Also, to direct and coordinate daily operations of the oil extraction plant.

Main accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Develop Operation Readiness deliverables
• Build the operational management system
• Recruit, manage and develop plant staff resources
• Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations
• Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
• Be responsible for integrity and maintenance of the asset
• Optimize production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
• Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
• Lead implementation of HSE aspects in the operations
• Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Engineering or Business management
• 10 years in plant manager or similar position

Language

• Fluent knowledge of English and local language

Required knowledge, technical or professional skills

• Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
• Proven managerial experience
• Adequate knowledge of business and management principles
• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
• Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory
• Computer literacy
• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
