  • Our client, SUN Mobility, is a global pioneer in battery swapping, enabling the large-scale adoption of electric mobility through an interoperable swap platform. SUN Mobility’s innovative solutions make EVs more affordable, accessible, and scalable—especially for two- and three-wheelers (2W/3Ws).

SUN Mobility is backed by globally respected investors including Bosch, Vitol, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), and Helios. With over 1.4 million + battery swaps every month and the largest battery-swapping network in India, our client is now entering Kenya, their first African market.

As they expand into Kenya, SUN Mobility is assembling a passionate team of self-starters and inventive problem-solvers. This is a rare chance to join a globally respected leader in clean mobility and make a tangible impact, applying their proven technology and cross-continental operational expertise.

SUN Mobility is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the company’s financial operations and strategy in the country (Kenya).

    JOB PURPOSE:

This individual will cover end-to-end finance management—from accounting and compliance to P&L ownership, cash flow monitoring, and financial forecasting.

The Finance Manager will also play a pivotal role in fundraising activities, including equity and debt financing, and in managing relationships with local banks, auditors, regulators, and global finance teams. The incumbent will serve as a financial advisor to senior leadership, ensuring that financial resources are deployed efficiently to support SUN Mobility’s rapid market expansion.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead and oversee all finance and accounting activities for SUN Mobility Kenya, ensuring compliance with local and global standards.
    • Manage financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Ensure effective cash flow management to support business operations and expansion plans.
    • Drive fundraising activities by preparing financial models, investor presentations, and liaising with banks, lenders, and equity partners.
    • Monitor P&L performance, cost controls, and profitability metrics; provide regular reports to global leadership.
    • Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting systems, and audit processes for accuracy and compliance.
    • Collaborate with leadership and business teams to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
    • Manage relationships with auditors, regulators, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
    • Oversee payroll, vendor payments, and contract compliance from a financial perspective.
    • Support cross-border coordination with SUN Mobility’s India finance team for group-level reporting and governance.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • 10–12 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in automotive, EV, renewable energy, logistics, or related industries.
    • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
    • A relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
    • Must be a chartered accountant with a CPA(K)/ACCA, or an equivalent qualification.
    • Strong track record of managing end-to-end finance operations, including accounting, tax, compliance, treasury, and audit.
    • Demonstrated experience in raising capital (equity and debt) in similar industries and managing investor relations.
    • Proven expertise in P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial modelling.
    • Prior exposure to working in startup or high-growth environments preferred.
    • Knowledge of Kenyan tax, corporate laws, and financial reporting standards.

    Key Skills and Attributes:

    • Strong financial acumen with expertise in equity/debt fundraising, FP&A, and P&L management.
    • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented with high integrity and a strong sense of ownership.
    • Ability to work independently in a startup 0-to-1 environment with limited systems initially.
    • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software, advanced Excel, and financial modelling tools.
    • Problem-solver with a strategic mindset, able to balance big-picture growth with financial discipline.

All applicants are advised to adhere to the application guidelines for consideration. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
