  • Our client, SUN Mobility, is a global pioneer in battery swapping, enabling the large-scale adoption of electric mobility through an interoperable swap platform. SUN Mobility’s innovative solutions make EVs more affordable, accessible, and scalable—especially for two- and three-wheelers (2W/3Ws).

    SUN Mobility is backed by globally respected investors including Bosch, Vitol, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), and Helios. With over 1.4 million + battery swaps every month and the largest battery-swapping network in India, our client is now entering Kenya, their first African market. 

    As they expand into Kenya, SUN Mobility is assembling a passionate team of self-starters and inventive problem-solvers.     SUN Mobility is seeking a Business Development & Sales Manager to spearhead their expansion in Kenya, with particular focus on the 2W/3W market (including boda bodas, tuk tuks and three-wheelers).

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The role holder’s primary mandate will be to build strategic partnerships and networks across OEMs, dealer networks, financiers, after-sales service providers, repair shops, and unions/rider associations. They will help define and execute go-to-market strategy for the commercial adoption of SUN Mobility’s battery swapping solutions, negotiate key deals, and build out a strong local sales and partner ecosystem.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and execute GTM strategy for Kenya’s 2W/3W EV market: sizing, segmentation, mapping OEMs, dealers, repair shops, financing partners, rider associations & unions.
    • Identify and engage strategic partners:
    • OEMs that produce or distribute 2W/3Ws (especially electric or converting to electric).
    • Dealer and spare-parts networks.
    • After-sales service and local repair shops to ensure maintenance, parts availability, service quality.
    • Financiers, Asset-finance companies, microfinance, banks for purchase and lease financing models for riders/operators.
    • Boda boda / tuk tuk rider associations, SACCOs / cooperatives, unions / stages, for outreach, adoption, and trust building.
    • Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, incentives with partners; drive deal closures with favorable terms aligned to our business model.
    • Build and maintain pipeline of leads: fleets, OEMs, dealer groups, financial institutions, unions; track metrics, close deals, achieveRevenue targets for 2W/3W segments.
    • Ensure partner onboarding, training, support, performance monitoring; interface with operations, product & service teams to ensure delivered solutions match partner & rider needs.
    • Gather feedback from partners & rider networks to refine product features, service, pricing, and to localize offerings; feed into product / engineering & marketing teams.
    • Represent SUN Mobility in external forums: industry events, government / regulatory bodies, trade shows, transport unions, SACCO meetings etc., to raise brand presence & influence policy/regulation.
    • Build, mentor and manage a small high-impact local team focused on partnerships, sales, and field engagement.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Postgraduate degree in Business (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
    • 7+ years in business development / sales / partnerships within mobility, automotive, EV, battery swap infrastructure or related sectors.
    • Deep experience or proven track record in the 2-wheeler / 3-wheeler / motorcycle / tuk tuk market; ideally with existing relationships to OEMs, dealers, repair shops, spare parts & after-sales networks.
    • Prior engagements with financiers, micro-finance / asset-financing organizations, or banks facilitating purchase / financing of 2W/3W vehicles.
    • Good understanding of informal transport operators (boda boda / tuk tuk), unions, stage associations, cooperatives, or SACCOs, and ability to navigate those networks.
    • Experience launching or scaling GTM (go-to-market) plans in new or early-stage markets; comfortable with ambiguity and building from ground up.
    • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, analytical skills.
    • Leadership capability: ability to build and grow a local sales / partner / outreach team.

    Key Skills and Attributes:

    • Strong network across Kenya’s 2W/3W mobility ecosystem (OEMs, dealers, repair shops, rider unions / cooperatives, financiers) or ability to rapidly build these.
    • Exceptional negotiation and deal-making skills; ability to structure complex partnership contracts.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills—including with informal sector actors.
    • Goal-oriented, self-starter, resilient; comfortable in early-stage / startup/launch environments.
    • Strategic, analytical thinker with ability to adapt GTM playbook to local market realities.
    • Passion for clean mobility, sustainable solutions, and impact in emerging transport sectors.
