  • REPORTS TO: BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MD (AFRICA).

    Our client, Broll Kenya Limited, is a leading real estate services provider in Kenya, offering comprehensive property management, integrated facilities management, advisory and corporate real estate solutions across East Africa. Broll is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join the organization as their Managing Director in Kenya.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This role is responsible for driving growth and promoting the Broll brand in the Kenyan and East African markets through the derivation and implementation of a strategy and proper positioning in the market. The Managing Director is responsible for providing strategic direction, relationship management with key stakeholders and the oversight of day-to-day operations of Broll Kenya. This role is also responsible for ensuring service excellence to our clients and working closely with Broll Property Group (“BPG”) in rolling out new service lines.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategic Market Leadership: -

    • Define and execute country growth strategy aligned to BPG objectives.
    • Position Broll as the leading integrated real estate services partner.
    • Identify high growth sectors and position relationships at C-suite level for growth.
    • Drive revenue growth and new business.
    • Drive operational excellence.
    • Drive brand and marketing positioning in the Kenyan market through thought leadership, being the public face of the Broll brand and elevating Broll Kenya’s profile in the market.

    Business Development and Marketing: -

    • Formulate business plans in response to anticipated economic, technological and market trends and targeted strategic relationships to grow each business line.
    • Continually focus on developing the business through building customer and strategic relationships and ensuring that resources are prepared to manage this growth i.e. a robust but realistic succession plan is in place.
    • Derivation and implementation of new and improved service lines in collaboration and consultation with BPG to ensure that Broll Kenya is aligned with the BPG service offerings.
    • Lead tender bid activity including sales and operational resourcing, sign offs, document and commercial reviews and presentation standards.
    • Monitor progress on and contribute to the pipeline across service lines and ensure that this is reported to Exco and BPG regularly.
    • Identify and target, in partnership with business development community, suitable quality and volume of work to enhance growth and value in the overall company.
    • Promote Broll through research publications, opinion pieces and media engagements.

    People Management: -

    • Provide team leadership and oversee talent recruitment to ensure that the Company can perform optimally.
    • Ensure the team has the skills and motivation to carry out their roles to the best of their abilities. This includes all staff attending the Company induction day and mandatory relevant training.
    • Is constantly visible and accessible to the team.
    • Ensure all staff are appraised annually, and all managers are formally trained in the appraisal process, and from this development plans put in place and followed through.
    • Ensure that no member of direct team will have ambiguity over scorecard targets, objectives, continual achievement against these targets or their perceived general performance.
    • Train, develop, induct & mentor direct reports and build a culture of continual development.
    • Build a robust succession plan for the country operations, using management development programmes and local development activities to ensure ready and able candidates are available.
    • Encourage a culture of co-operation and teamwork within the country operations, ensuring that staff are recognized and rewarded as appropriate, through local mechanisms, the completion of bonus scorecards, supporting the Exceptional Awards and social activities.
    • Communicate to the staff on at least every 6 months through staff meetings and/or via internal newsletters.
    • Work collaboratively with Divisional Heads to embed the right culture and mentality in the company throughout the year through workplace activity such as team bonding sessions.
    • Undertake staff satisfaction survey on annual basis and review and implement appropriate recommendations.

    Customer Relations: -

    • Represent Broll in a professional and credible manner to customers and the public.
    • Build and develop high-level customer relationships with both existing and potential customers through fully understanding their needs and deriving solutions to resolve pain points and needs identified.
    • Focus on ensuring excellent service levels are maintained at all times.
    • Is accessible and responsive to customers at all times.
    • Ensure that strong client management and control and compliance with Client Agreements and SLAs as well as internal key performance indicators.
    • Through the use of annual surveys and regular engagements, ensure that strong client satisfaction levels are maintained and client retention is achieved.
    • Attend client meetings at least once a quarter. Visit all managed sites at least twice during the year.

    Operational Management: -

    • Create a culture of exceptional quality and innovation.
    • Ensure robust contract reviews are led by divisional heads with check and challenge of detail and are used as coaching and development opportunities.
    • Ensure that the organization lives up to Broll brand promise and that the service offering is at all times fully evidenced on all sites.
    • Ensure fair treatment of suppliers, professional supplier management and arbitration of disputes.
    • Work closely with the procurement team to ensure maximum use of preferred suppliers and ensure robust back-to-back, performance focused contracts are in place to leverage maximum value.
    • Monitor and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
    • Identify, track and influence key key performance indicators and financial performance metrics derived from the approved company strategy to deliver required performance levels and ensure that operational excellence is achieved.

    Financial Management: -

    • Work closely with finance and Exco teams to ensure that monthly targets are met and financials are true, timely and accurate.
    • Take responsibility to ensure that all clients are billed correctly and timeously.
    • Oversee the achievement of budgeted net profit and reporting against this target to the Board and BPG on a regular basis.

    Governance: -

    • Oversee the compliance with Kenyan legislation and ensure that the correct reporting, processes and policies are in place.
    • Lead the continuous review of corporate governance structure including review and input on policies, procedures and processes of the business and its support functions.
    • Maintenance of risk register and monitoring of significant risks as well as reporting same to the Board.
    • To ensure that policies and procedures are reviewed and updated on an annual basis, or as and when required, and to ensure thorough compliance monitoring that control weaknesses, which are identified and dealt with promptly.
    • Managing stakeholder relationships and overseeing compliance with shareholder and stakeholder agreements.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CAREER EXPERIENCE:

    • A bachelor’s degree in real estate, business management or a related field. A master’s degree would be an added advantage.
    • Good understanding of the Kenyan and East African markets particularly in the real estate sector.
    • 10+ years of relevant experience with 3 to 5 years of leadership experience preferably in the real estate or related environments.
    • Experience in growing business and providing strategic guidance and motivation to Exco and staff as well as building and nurturing strategic relationships.
