REPORTING LINES: GENERAL MANAGER & FINANCE MANAGER.
Our client, Asilia Africa, a leader in providing safari experiences and eco-friendly accommodations in East Africa, is looking to recruit a Lodge Accountant to join their team in Entebbe, Uganda.
JOB PURPOSE:
This position will be responsible for the excellent execution of attendant finance and accounting functions geared towards the achievement of the company goals and objectives.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, performing statistical reviews and financial reporting.
- File tax returns and remit all payments on or before the due dates specifically:
- Payroll taxes, VAT, income taxes and final taxes.
- Proper reconciliation of VAT before remitting payment to URA as guided from time to time by the Line Manager.
- Attend to any other taxes as may be legislated from time to time.
- Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations, trade payables and intercompany ledgers on regular basis.
- Stocks management i.e. oversee Physical stock takes at the camp and participate in variance analysis calls.
- Fixed Asset management and accounting specifically tagging and verifying fixed assets on an annual basis.
- Ensure all payments and receipts are processed and accounted for in the system in collaboration with the Office Manager.
- Reconcile and account for Park entry fees and other camp activities incurred by guests.
- Assist with monitoring budget expenditures and conducting variance analysis.
- Provide support to internal and external audit assignments as well as resolution of audit findings.
- Assist in the preparation of R&M reports for all vehicles.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CAREER EXPERIENCE:
- At least five (5) years relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and CPA (U).
- Working knowledge and understanding of the safari industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of finance & accounting systems.
