  • Our client, Health Research Operations Kenya Limited (HROKL), the operating entity for the KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme, a world class health research Programme based in Kenya, conducting multi-disciplinary research that spans infectious diseases, vaccines, maternal child and neonatal health, health systems, and emerging health threats. The Programme’s research leverages an integrated platform that includes bioscience laboratories, a clinical trials facility and clinical team, the clinical information network, the Kilifi demographic and health surveillance site, and robust community engagement, generating evidence that informs local and global health policy.

    HROKL is looking to hire an effective and detailed-oriented Compensation and Benefits Officer to support the administration of compensation, payroll, benefits, and employee relations processes.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This individual will support the implementation and administration of compensation, payroll, benefits, and employee relations processes. They will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of reward and employee relations services through effective use of HR systems and coordination with key stakeholders.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide support for the implementation of compensation and benefits policies, procedures, and programs in line with organizational guidelines and legal requirements.
    • Coordinate and process monthly payroll by compiling, verifying, and submitting payroll inputs through HR systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Support job evaluation exercises and remuneration surveys by collecting, compiling, and analyzing relevant data.
    • Coordinate employee benefits programs, including medical and insurance schemes, by liaising with service providers and supporting staff on benefit-related queries.
    • Provide administrative and technical support in the coordination of employee relations processes, including grievance and disciplinary cases, ensuring timely documentation and follow-up.
    • Coordinate staff engagement and welfare initiatives, including coordination of staff forums, surveys, and organizational events.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compensation, payroll, and employee relations data within HR systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Generate routine and ad hoc reports on payroll, benefits, and employee relations metrics to support decision-making.
    • Coordinate the effective use of HR systems and tools by assisting users, resolving basic issues, and escalating complex system challenges where necessary.
    • Support in the implementation of improvements and innovations in compensation, benefits, and employee relations processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
    • Support capacity-building initiatives by coordinating training sessions, awareness programs, and staff sensitization on compensation, benefits, and employee relations matters.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND CAREER EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or any relevant field from a recognized University.
    • A minimum of 4 Years of overall experience, 1 of which was at a supervisory level at a reputable organization an added advantage.
    • CHRP II
    • IHRM Valid membership
    • Demonstrated experience in the use of technology in HR operations and service delivery.
