  • Our client, a leading consultancy firm in East Africa providing solutions in the wider region and with diverse experience working with cross-cultural teams and organizations, is looking to hire a tech-savvy Business Development Officer.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The role combines business development, sales, and marketing duties under the guidance of the Business Development Director. The officer will support the execution of marketing initiatives, contribute to lead generation and client acquisition, and assist in managing client engagement processes. The role requires a proactive, organized, and commercially minded individual who can execute assigned tasks with clarity and efficiency while contributing to growth-focused initiatives. It is ideal for someone building a career in sales, marketing, and business development, with exposure to clients, senior leadership, and regional growth initiatives.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Build awareness of the firm in the Ugandan market through direct engagement with prospective clients.
    • Develop, align and implement the company’s marketing strategy in line with business objectives and in collaboration with the BD Director and the BD team.
    • Manage the full marketing mix (product, pricing, channels, promotion, people, process and environment) to drive brand awareness and demand generation across target segments.
    • Manage local digital presence including basic social media engagement and updates ensuring optimal ROI and alignment with business priorities.
    • Execute brand building and demand generation campaigns, balancing short-term lead generation with long-term brand equity, with clearly defined annual targets and quarterly reviews.
    • Build, maintain and manage a robust prospect and lead pipeline, tracking lead stages, conversion rates and ROI from demand generation activities.
    • Design, implement and continuously improve a lead qualification and prioritization process to ensure effective follow-up and optimal use of resources.
    • Personally pursue leads, driving prospects through the full sales cycle from initial lead to contract signing and first invoice, ensuring accurate sales recording and escalating capacity needs to the BD Director where required.
    • Develop and maintain standardized pitch decks, company profiles and proposal templates, approved by the BD Director and ready for rapid deployment.
    • Customize proposals, pitches and tenders to client/prospect needs, ensuring accuracy, quality and timely submission.
    • Conduct regular field engagement, networking, & client visits to grow the business.
    • Coordinate and manage client pitches, meetings and proposal presentations, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and scheduling.
    • Grow revenue from existing clients through upselling, cross-selling & repeat business with defined annual targets, retention plans & regular performance reviews.
    • Utilize CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) for lead tracking and reporting.
    • Ensure all activities comply withal relevant laws (e.g., Kenya's Data Protection Act), company standard operating procedures, and ethical business practices.
    • Ensure consistent weekly reporting to Kenya BD Director
    • Any other duty as assigned.

    EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business administration or a related field with strong marketing and client service focus.
    • 2–5 years’ experience in sales and business development in the consulting or service industry.
    • Professional certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot Inbound Marketing, or PMP) are a strong added.
    • Strong understanding of the Ugandan business environment and client dynamics.
    • Good understanding of digital marketing and sales processes with familiarity to CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce)
    • Confident communicator with an ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and seniority level professionals.
    • Demonstrated experience in campaign/strategy development, stakeholder presentations, and client-facing business development & sales activities.
    • A well-rounded professional with the ability to balance analytical thinking, communication and execution.
    • Self-driven, highly organized, and able to work independently with remote supervision.
    • Proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
