  • POSITION: ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN - MANUFACTURING

    LOCATION: RUARAKA, KENYA

    Our client, one of the leading MFCGS companies in the region with headquarters in Kenya is looking to recruit Electrical Technician.

    Purpose of Position:
    The Electrical Technician will ensure reliable and safe operation of plant electrical systems and equipment at our Ruaraka Plant. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation interfaces, and hazardous-area electrical installations. The technician will work closely with Production, Quality, and EHS teams to minimize downtime, uphold regulatory compliance, and maintain high safety standards.

    Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

    • Maintenance & Reliability: Execute preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on plant equipment, diagnose and repair faults, maintain logs, and support RCA.
    • Process & Instrumentation Interfaces: Support integration of electrical systems with instrumentation, assist with loop checks and wiring verification.
    • Hazardous Areas & Compliance: Carry out electrical work in hazardous areas following standards for explosion protection and regulatory compliance.
    • Safety & EHS: Follow LOTO, isolation protocols, use PPE, and participate in safety programs.
    • Projects, Upgrades & Documentation: Assist in installation, commissioning, and updating electrical drawings.
    • Continuous Improvement & Housekeeping: Identify energy-saving opportunities and maintain organized electrical rooms.

    Education Qualification, Experience, Skills, And Traits

    • Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical discipline.
    • 2–3 years hands-on electrical maintenance experience in process/industrial plants (chemical, petrochemical, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, or similar).
    • Experience with LV/MV power systems, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, generators, UPS.
    • Knowledge of hazardous-area installations and CMMS usage (SAP PM/Maximo).
