Our client, a leader in facility management and construction services is looking to recruit a quantity surveyor to join their team.
JOB PURPOSE.
The incumbent will be involved in project scoping, preparing of bills of quantities, project management and business development.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES.
Project Scoping
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work and prepare quotations.
- Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
- Review tender documents, drawings & specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and scope gaps.
- Develop cost models and rate databases to guide competitive pricing.
- Perform risk and value management and cost control.
- Advise on a procurement strategy for projects.
- Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks.
- Prepare and analyze costings for tenders.
- Allocate work to subcontractors.
- Provide advice on contractual claims.
- Analyze outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
- Value completed work and arranged payments.
- Maintain awareness of the different contracts for our clients and ensure the full implementation.
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
Project Management
- Organize work activities and meet with supervisors to review project goals/milestones and progress to ensure timelines are being met.
- Prepare reports for directors or clients showing key project metrics such as actual cost vs. budget, etc.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
- Assemble and forward project closeout documents to the Head of Projects.
- Undertake client presentations.
New Business Development
- Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential clients in the industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (like technical and business development) to ensure comprehensive and competitive proposals.
- Track market trends and prepare strategies for successful tendering.
- Identify tendering opportunities and ensure participation and attainment of set targets.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of business clearly showing timelines for closure.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- A bachelor’s degree in a quantity surveying, construction management or a similar field.
- Must hold relevant professional certifications and accreditations from recognized industry bodies.
- At least 5 years of project management experience.
- Strong numerical and financial management skills.
- A practical mind and interest in technological changes in building trends.
