  • Our client, a global organization in the energy sector is setting up its offices in Kenya and is looking to recruit a Security Specialist to join their team in Kenya.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The individual will be responsible for safeguarding critical infrastructure by supporting the implementation of security measures, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and organizational standards, and mitigating operational and security risks to protect people, assets, and business operations.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement security strategies, plans, and controls to protect employees, expatriates, contractors, company facilities, assets, information, and reputation from physical and technological threats.
    • Conduct and support security risk assessments, including threats from crime, organised crime, civil unrest, and other emerging risks, and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with security laws, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements, including privacy and human rights standards.
    • Provide security intelligence and risk analysis to support management decision-making and strengthen the protection of people and company assets.
    • Lead or support security incident and emergency response, ensuring prompt intervention, escalation, reporting, and implementation of measures to mitigate risks during crises.
    • Maintain effective liaison with local authorities, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders on security-related matters.
    • Monitor security services, incidents, and emerging threats, ensuring timely reporting and information sharing with management and central security functions.
    • Coordinate and support security audits, investigations, and compliance reviews, ensuring identified gaps are addressed and security systems remain effective.
    • Investigate and respond to security incidents, threats, and human rights concerns, in coordination with relevant internal and external security functions and in compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Provide ongoing security advice, awareness, and guidance to employees and contractors, and implement preventive measures to protect people, assets, information, the environment, and company reputation.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CAREER EXPERIENCE:

    • Previous experience in security operations, preferably within a corporate, industrial, or multinational environment. 2-3 years working in the police service.
    • A B.Sc in criminology or a related field.
    • Sound knowledge of country-specific security operations, procedures, and risk management practices.
    • Strong skills in security planning, operational control, risk assessment, and problem-solving, with a results-oriented approach.
    • Demonstrated positive attitude, resilience, energy, and professionalism, with the ability to remain effective in high-pressure situations.
    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • High level of initiative, flexibility, adaptability, and lateral thinking, with the ability to respond effectively to changing security situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, take decisive action, and lead by example.
